1999 McKinna 48’ Pilothouse

FOR SALE: $225,000

McKinna has long been legendary in the live aboard yacht industry as an elegant yacht that meets function. The McKinna 48 is an Asian-built pilothouse yacht whose tall profile, attractive price, and comfortable accommodations made her a popular choice in the under 50′ motor yacht category. Primarily a West Coast vessel, the 48 is heavily built on a solid fiberglass modified-V hull, and her relatively wide beam—combined with a full-width salon—delivers a spacious and wide-open interior whose dimensions rival those of a much larger boat. The light interior and large cabin windows only add to the overall impression of interior space, and visibility from the raised helm is excellent. The McKinnas were offered with a standard three-stateroom layout with the galley located on the salon level. Additional features include an extended flybridge with room for a dinghy, deck access door at the lower helm, transom door, and a recessed foredeck sun lounge.

Do you live in a state that charges sales tax, annual registration fees or personal property tax? Perhaps you are Canadian, cruising the Great Loop, but want to avoid the cost and hassle of importation. This yacht is USCG documented with a hailing port of W. Glacier, Montana. Montana is a zero sales tax state. You don’t need to live there! Both the yacht and dinghy, as well as all equipment, are owned by a Montana Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) in good standing.

This yacht is offered for sale in a traditional stand alone manner where the LLC transfers title to you. OR INSTEAD, the LLC, itself, can be purchased, including all its assets (vessel, dinghy, equipment and licenses). Since it is a Montana corporation there is no sales tax and since the boat ownership doesn’t change (the ownership of the corporation changes while the corporation still retains ownership of the assets) the USCG documentation, ship‘s FCC radio and AIS licenses and dinghy registration stay in effect eliminating the costs and time of re-documenting the vessel with the USCG, re-registering the dinghy with the State and acquiring new FCC radio ship licenses and required AIS registration.
